10/12/2015 – I bought a replacement Ni-Cad battery for my finish nailer 2 years ago. I don't use my nailer often, just small projects . . .
Response From ITW Construction Service & Parts: The lights on the battery charger will flash red/green for up to 20 minutes. If the lights are flashing red/green for more than 20 minutes in means the battery is no longer taking a charge. If a Ni-Cad battery is left uncharged for a long period of time it can go bad. It is best to periodically charge the battery to ensure that it will last. You can also leave the battery in the charger for extended periods. The charges senses current draw and will adjust its output accordingly. In other words, once a battery is fully charged, the charger goes into a trickle charge mode.
